The Buckeyes will pose as the Great Westerns B.B.C. of Cincinnati, as the Cincinnati Vintage Base Ball Club and Heritage Village Museum host a major “Opening Day” event to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Cincinnati Red Stockings 1869 season opener, in which the famed nine defeated the Great Westerns 45-9 to begin their historic undefeated season. This game will NOT be a recreation of that game, but rather a “re-match” between the two clubs that is sure to not be so lop-sided in 2019!
Base ball is FREE to watch inside Heritage Village (Hamilton Co. Parks parking pass/fee may be enforced, and admission is required to tour the Heritage Village buildings). Chairs, picnics and good cheers for great plays are encouraged; however, pets, smoking and obnoxious behavior are not allowed.

RESULTS: The Buckeyes represented the Great Westerns well and got a measure of revenge by defeating the otherwise “heroes of the day”, the Cincinnati Red Stockings, by a score of 32-9 in a game called after 7 innings due to worsening weather conditions.
